January 15th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

First internship rejections today!  0 for 2 so far.  You know, I did apply for a lot of jobs that were “stretches” with the understanding that it wouldn’t be a good hit rate, but I think I underestimated the psychological impact of receiving “sorry, you’re not good enough” letters from an employer every day for the next month…  From boutique consulting firm #1:

Thank you for your interest in an intern opportunity with […] We know that you are exploring many options now, and we are happy to have been one of them. Because we are managing the difficult task of selecting individuals to fill a small number of internship roles, we are unfortunately unable to utilize the talents of all the qualified people who apply to our firm. To that end, please keep in touch with us, as we would like for you to consider […] when you are evaluating your full time employment options. We were very impressed by your application and wish you great success in all your future endeavors.

From international general management role #1:

Thank you for your interest in […] and I wish you the very best of luck in your internship search.
